The Devil and Tom Walker

In the Story of The Devil and Tom Walker I Inferred that Tom Walkers wife was a miserable mean women who was stingy and sneaky women the author directly stated that "Whatever the woman could lay hands on she hid away a hen could not cackle but she was on the alert to secure the new- laid egg". I can Infer that the author directly stated Toms wife was a loud and obnoxious women with a tall but built shape and didn't hold her tongue for no one , not even Tom because in the story he said " Toms wife was a tall termagant, fierce of temper, loud of tongue, and strong of arm. The author Indirectly stated that Tom walker was a meager miserly fellow I inferred that tom was a tall and skinny English man, Tom walker was a fearless man by inferences "but tom was a hard-minded fellow, not easily daunted, and he lived so long with a termagant wife, that he did not even fear the devil." I can infer that Tom Walker and his wife was a very stubborn couple, both of them were miserable and greedy the author indirectly said " He had a wife as miserly as himself; they were so miserly that they even conspired to cheat each other". Living off of greed lead them to a man by the name of Old scratch who persuaded the walkers into selling their soul for money. I inferred that the great black woodsman was the devil because the author stated "I am known by the name of the black woodsman. I am he whom the red men devoted this spot, and now and roasted a white man by way of sweet smelling sacrifice."

This Story brought many morals, Karma was the first one to come to mind because if Tom walkers wife never would have tried to go behind his back and meet the devil on her own , cause Tom wouldn't sell his soul , she never would have gotten killed. But karma goes to Tom also because after she died he still mad a deal with the devil and it ended up giving him a great life but a horrific afterlife. Another theme to this story could be loyalty ,which neither character had because if they would have been loyal to each other neither would be dead. Selfishness goes along with this story , being selfish and greedy will only get you so far in life until it blows up into your face and you'll be sitting there alone or dead which still ends up being alone. But the lesson of this book would be to never make a deal with the devil because its never fair.
